Keeping Kids Safe: What the New Queensland Child-Safety Rules Mean for Our Centre & Your Family

14/11/2025

Our Commitment to Safety

At Kidventure Early Learning Centre, nothing matters more than giving children a safe, nurturing environment where they can explore, learn, and thrive. That's why we're closely following the new child-safety reforms in Queensland, ensuring every part of our service meets and exceeds the latest legal and ethical standards.

What's Changing Across Queensland

The Queensland Government has introduced stronger laws to protect children in early learning environments, under the new Child Safe Organisations Act 2024. These reforms work alongside updates to the Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) regulatory framework and the 10 National Child Safe Standards.

Some of the key updates include:

  • Services must report any allegations or complaints of harm or abuse within 24 hours (reduced from the previous seven-day timeframe).
  • Clearer policies around the use of digital technology, images, and CCTV, ensuring children's privacy and online safety.
  • Introduction of a ban on vaping devices and harmful substances in all ECEC settings.
  • Requirements for services to embed the 10 Child Safe Standards by 1 January 2026, focusing on leadership, participation, inclusion, and safe environments.

What This Means at Kidventure

At Kidventure, we've already started embedding these new standards across our daily operations and culture of care:

  • We have updated our incident-reporting procedures to ensure any concerns are escalated and documented immediately, in line with the new 24-hour requirement.
  • All educators and staff have undertaken enhanced child-protection and safety training, including online safety, identification of risks, culturally safe practices (particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children), and appropriate responses to any concerns.
  • We're strengthening our digital-safety policies — including how photos, videos, and technology are used — to protect children's privacy and dignity at all times.
  • We continue to ensure that our recruitment, screening, and supervision practices reflect best practice. All staff hold valid Blue Cards, are checked against the Department's Prohibited Persons Register, and must uphold our strict Code of Conduct. We maintain transparent supervision processes and ongoing performance reviews to ensure every team member meets our high standards of professionalism. Above all, we support our team to uphold a culture of safety, trust, and respect — every day, with every child.
  • We actively engage with families and children, encouraging open communication so everyone feels heard, valued, and supported.

Why It Matters

Every child deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported — always. These new reforms recognise that child safety isn't just a policy; it's a daily practice built on relationships and awareness. By prioritising these standards now, we are creating an environment where every child can grow with confidence and security.

What Families Can Do

You play a vital role in building a safe environment, too. Here are a few ways you can help:

  • Talk to your child about their experiences — ask if they feel safe and happy.
  • Review our updated policies at the centre — we welcome your feedback.
  • Report any concerns directly to our Approved Provider, Centre Director, or Nominated Supervisor — we're always here to listen.
  • Keep up-to-date through our newsletters and parent portal for more child-safety updates.

Final Word

At Kidventure Early Learning Centre, child safety is everyone's responsibility — educators, families, and the wider community working together. As Queensland strengthens its approach to child protection, you can trust that Kidventure remains committed to providing the safest, most supportive environment for your little one to learn and grow.
